VoltScreen: Protect Your Radiator! Now available for Gen 1 and Gen 2 Volts and Bolts
So you are either an ostrich, or you know all about this one. A number of reports from Volt owners have indicated that the high voltage battery coolant radiators are being punctured by stones or other debris that is thrown through lower grill of their Volt. The resulting damage has been $1200+ to repair. Think about that! And the surprise, inconvenience, and the cost of gas while your car is down for a few days. It just isn't worth taking the chance on having a punctured radiator.
The grill on a Volt will allow stones up to 3/4" to pass through and strike the radiator. The VoltScreen covers the grill protecting your car and hides in the shadows. Once installed, you will forget it is there, but it will keep on doing its job. It is quickly and easily installed with plastic ties and removable at any time. Because it is on the outside of the grill, it will not trap leaves or other debris in any recesses and is easily hosed off if it becomes dirty.
The VoltScreen is made from a strong metal mesh with 1/4" holes to keep larger stones and debris from getting to the radiator and doing the damage. It is powder coated for a good looking finish, then trimmed with plastic edging. It looks great and is hardly noticeable once installed.
The Chevy Bolt is not different and should be protected as well. Loss of coolant from a high voltage battery coolant radiator puncture will cause the car to brick itself to protect the batteries. Wherever you are, the car goes to a dealer on a flatbed and you walk home. Not good....
The VoltScreen g2 fits the new 2016-19 Volts. The VoltScreen g1 fits the 2011-15 Volt. Be sure to specify the VoltScreen model or your car's year when ordering. The BoltScreen fits all years of Chevy BoltEV.
